The Beginning

Mita-Teknik was founded in 1969 in Aarhus, Denmark by the present Chairman of the Board, Holger Andersen. The project started as a hobby in a garage for Holger and his present wife, Connie. Holger’s friend, Allan Thomsen, was also a part of establishing Mita-Teknik but he left the company in 1985 to live abroad. Holger was in charge of the development of controllers used for surveillance of gas burners and Connie was in charge of the finances. The start capital was 500 DKK which Holger borrowed from his dad – today Mita-Teknik has an AAA credit rating from Dun & Bradstreet, the world’s leading source of business information and insight.

Well-known Customers
The day after Holger finished his apprenticeship as an electronics mechanic in 1971, he started full-time in Mita-Teknik without any kind of safety net. Connie was still responsible for the finances which she did in her spare time. The quality of the controllers that Holger developed was interesting to many companies and Mita-Teknik soon landed customers like BP Gas, Shell Gas, Gulf Gas and Esso. Holger also developed controllers for transport systems and in doing that, Mita-Teknik indirectly exported to Swedish companies like Volvo, Saab, Electrolux and Eldon. No matter what type of products Holger sold to customers, the products were developed and produced by Mita-Teknik in the same way as they are today.

Establishment of Mita-Teknik A/S in 1974
Holger and Connie decided to move the company to Rødkærsbro because of the growth and increasing number of customers. At the same time, the company shifted from Mita-Teknik I/S company (general partnership) to Mita-Teknik A/S (private limited company) and Connie was employed full-time. At the time Mita-Teknik employed 8 people in all.

First Fair Ever
November 1, 1975 Mita-Teknik participated in their first fair ever which was held in Rødkærsbro. New customers who wanted to place orders and a presentation of the company for the local community were the main reasons for participating in the fair. Mita-Teknik presented their newly developed products which were control panels to transport plants. Since 1975, Mita-Teknik has participated in several fairs around the world and been involved in the local community.

A New Era
In the late 70s, Mita-Teknik began using microprocessors in a new modular microprocessor system that was named CS (Computer System). The system turned out to be an important ingredient to the new era. In 1983, one of Mita-Teknik’s customers decided to produce a 22 kW wind turbine and wanted Mita-Teknik to deliver the control system. It became a great success and Mita-Teknik became the first company in the world to use serial communication in control systems. Other customers acknowledged the quality of the control system and soon Mita-Teknik became a sub-supplier to several Danish wind turbine manufacturers. The result was a rapid growth and a lack of space so Mita-Teknik moved to Håndværkervej 1 in Rødkærsbro in 1985.

Export
Mita-Teknik changed their strategy in 1990 to develop the control systems further and make export possible. The strategy was to export a complete control concept for wind turbines that made the wind turbines work perfect. Our neighboring countries, Germany and Sweden, were the first countries we exported our control systems to and soon India followed. In the 90s, Mita-Teknik exported to several customers in different countries and that has made us today’s market leader.

The New Millennium
The export and growth have continued in the new millennium and Mita-Teknik spotted some opportunities in establishing divisions outside Denmark. Establishment of divisions outside Denmark made it possible to be close to our customers to provide an even better service. Furthermore, the time of delivery on our products are lowered, primarily for the benefits of our customers based in Asia.
