Distributor Cooperation with LATIS Wind SL
Mita-Teknik has signed a commercial agreement with LATIS Wind to support the Spanish wind market with proven WTG Retrofit solutions.
As a strategic move to support the Spanish wind market in retrofitting wind turbines and farms, Mita-Teknik is very happy to announce that we have entered a commercial agreement with LATIS Wind.
LATIS Wind is based near Barcelona, and owned and led by Mr. Michel Bellaiche, who has been working for more than ten years within the wind industry. LATIS Wind offers to the wind energy market worldwide a series of services such as technical inspections in operating turbines and QA/QC services in wind farms during the installation phase.
LATIS Wind will be promoting Mita-Teknik’s wind-specific hardware and software solutions in Spain, and the parties will in close cooperation be supporting the Spanish market with WTG lifetime-extending Retrofit solutions to increase AEP, gain optimized production, and make independent service possible.
”We are confident that this new cooperation will benefit the Spanish wind turbine owners. In Spain, we support upgrades for more than 4,000 wind turbines, and further designs are in preparation. Our experience with Retrofit extends beyond the theoretical and we have +200 practical cases that exemplify the advantages of our Retrofit solutions.” Says Jesper K. Nielsen, Sr. Key Account Manager at Mita-Teknik.
Over the last three decades, thousands of wind turbines of all sizes have been installed in Spain. At the time of installation, each wind turbine was state-of-the-art and most are still operational today. The majority of wind turbines have been solid investments, but as with many other technologies access to components for repairs and maintenance decrease over time. The turbines are often in good mechanical shape but out of warranty from the OEM. These factors combined with unplanned service costs and new demands for control, cyber security, and data have until now left wind farm owners with the choice of repowering the site with new larger turbines (often not possible due to restrictions in environmental permits) or simply terminating them. Our experience in this area shows that by retrofitting out-of-warranty turbines with new and field-proven Control and Automation technologies, wind farm owners can extend the productive life of the turbines and stay competitive in the modern wind market.
